OS X
3rd Apr. 2002
O?Reilly Network features good tutorials on the OS X Terminal application for UNIX-wary Mac fans. Their hands-on tutorials will have you punching out command lines in no time at all.
... which is all well in good but how about a tutorial on how to get my three OS X computers to talk to one another. I remember the heady days pre-OS 8 when all one had to do was run a cable between two MacIntoshs and voila, instant Appletalk network. Not these days. Forced to use OS X at home (due to very poor ADSL connectivity pre-OS X) my computers never talk to one another. They talk to themselves just fine but the seem to be social anemics, forcing me to boot into OS 9 just to transfer a file from one computer to the other. "Super-modern operating system" my ass.
