Iteration 1

Tasks

Scenario 1
Scenario 2
Structure and potential path

The following examples are not meant to illustrate the potential interface but provide experience in creating a path using the abilities I have at present.

ex.1- Entry page mock-up
ex.1- Main mock-up
ex.1- Full text example>
ex.1- Story Entry
ex.1- Slideshow

Thoughts on goals

The ultimate result should be a working product and not just an investigation or concept. It could be probable that the concept and investigation may lead to a product that is unattainable within a realist time frame in which a reduced working representation may suffice.

The product can be experimental in nature. Despite the desire to create a finished product this product should not strive to succeed as a commercial entity.

Though experimental by design elements and methods should be applicable to other products.

People should not only experience the story as told through the product but they should be the storytellers themselves, adding to the body of narrative over time.

Create an environment to support the different mental processes inherent when reading narrative.

Thoughts on features

Delivery of content should be dynamic

The interface to the environment should rely on visual cues and not text.

The tone of the narrative is set by the imaginative qualities of CalvinoÕs Invisible Cities. Initially the first examples stories will consist excerpts from the novel itself.

In this product people can contribute and interact thereby creating something organic. Stories that start with a great foundation but over time, after re-telling, reinterpreting, and additions is transformed into something completely different and unique.

Beyond just the single story I need to find ways of visualizing the growth of data. People must be able to visually perceive growth in the different nodes.

People need to be able to interact with the system in a visual way. Story telling need not be confined to simply text or voice Ð neither should the system that delivers it.

People can contribute text, images, or motion graphics to the body of content.

There should not be a reliance on language for navigation.

The experience must have a beginning a middle and an end but the timing of this should be up to the user. The user should be able to start and stop the experience at will and be able to continue where they left off. Its an intelligent system as it also allows you to repeat the same experience in the same or different manner as you had originally.
